Junior Lexi Vander recreates her mothers old photos

Students everywhere celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday by doing nice things to show appreciation for their moms. Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms around the world. The American version of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914.

“I think Mother’s Day is just a great day that shows appreciation for a person that does so much for us,” senior Alicia Badell said. “I cooked my mom breakfast in bed and then my dad took her out to lunch.”

Junior Lexi Vander celebrated her mother in an unusual way.

I think Mother’s Day is really important because moms really are the most under-appreciated people in the world and they do everything that they can for their kids,” she said. “I really like Mother’s Day because it’s a day that I can do something nice for my mom for being my mom, and what she does for me and how much I appreciate it. I made a scrapbook for my mom from pictures of her at 16 that I recreated because we look so similar and the pictures all turned out really good.
