Students gear up for French competition

Now that tryouts for Congrès, an annual statewide French competition, have finished, fees to pay for the trip are being collected and practice will soon begin. However, the dates for the practices have not been set.

One of last year’s Congrès participants, junior Trung Van, said the event immersed him in the French experience.

“Everyone really got into the whole competition,” Van said. “Besides being a good learning experience, it was also a lot of fun and being there with friends made it even better.”

First-time participant, Sky M. isn’t  sure what to expect.

“I’m looking forward to interacting with other schools,” eighth-grader Sky M. said. “I’m not sure how our school compares academically to the others that participate, but I think it’ll be fun no matter what the results even though I prefer winning.”

The competition is going to be held March 12-14 at the Doubletree Hotel on Major Boulevard at the entrance to Universal Studios in Orlando.
