Sophomore Boston Boucher took his first starting role on the boys’ varsity basketball team, and freshman Nash Fiedler scored 5 points in a 60–25 defeat against Sebastian River on Tuesday night.
“Starting varsity was nerve-racking,” Boucher said. “My progress from the start of the season means a lot to me, and I hope I can continue to make progress in the future. The loss was attributed to a lot of different factors; we didn’t play our game, we have competed with that team before, and all three captains being out of the game didn’t help either.”
The loss bumped the team’s record down to 9–12, marking the last game before the playoffs begin. The Wildcats will travel to a neutral site Tuesday to compete against Odyssey in the first round of the district playoffs.
“We have had some good practices,” Fiedler said. “I think we can get back on our feet and go strong into Districts. We might come out with a district title this year.”
