Girls’ relay team advances to regionals

After placing fourth in the district track meet at Sebastian River High School on April 16, the girls’ 4 by 100 meter relay team, consisting of Alexa Weaver, Laura Shelton, Trinity Sweet and Sarah Green, qualified for Saturday’s regional track meet at South Fork High School.

“I wasn’t expecting to move on because I heard the older kids talking about how hard it was,” Weaver said. “I honestly thought only the top three teams moved on, so when Coach Devlin told us that we made it we were all confused.”

The team has continued training as it has been throughout the season.

“This week we are going to just keep practicing our hand off to make sure we have smooth transitions and can go as fast as possible,” she said. “I don’t think we are going to do very good compared to the other teams, so hopefully we can do good compared to how we have been running this season.”
