Boys’ basketball fall to Minutemen

The Wildcat boys’ basketball team fell to Cocoa Beach Thursday night, by a narrow margin of 59-57. This latest loss lowers their record to 0-2, winless to open the season.

“We lost quite a few starters, but that just means it’s next player up.” Coach Riopelle said.  “I mean it’s high school basketball, it’s not the pros, so if you actually focus and put in the effort you’ll go a long way.”

The team knows some changes are neccesary if they hope to make a run at the district title.

“We’re going to be a little more aggressive this year defensively,” Riopelle said.  “We’re going to try and trap a little bit more and stuff like that. I think every high school, every team has the same hopes and dreams and aspirations. Everybody thinks they can win the state championship right now. But it really comes down to the amount of work we put in and the focus.”

The ‘Cats next play tonight against Merritt Island. The game tips-off at 7 p.m. in the West Shore gymnasium.
