Soccer falls to Montverde in preseason match

The boys’ varsity soccer team fell to Montverde 2-0 in a preseason game last Tuesday. Since January 2016, Montverde has lost only one game. Despite the loss, Matthew Rabel (12) appeared pleased with his team’s play.

“I think we have a good chance of going pretty far in this season, maybe a state run,” he said.

Monteverde provides a strong preseason test for the team.

“Monteverde is always at a higher level than other teams,” Michael Villanueva (11) said. “Starting off the season with them is always a challenge.”

Monteverde is known for attacking supremacy.

“The team plays more defensively and in different formations [when playing against Monteverde,]”Gavin Robidoux (10) said.

The boys are looking to bounce back quickly.

“We used the first game as a test and are going to build off the loss looking forward,” Cannon Hester (9) said.

The Wildcats’ season kicks off Nov. 13 at Viera High School.
