JV girls mercy rule Space Coast

The girls’ junior varsity soccer team ended its away game Tuesday before halftime, leading Space Coast 8-0, which triggered the mercy rule.

Heading into the game the team wasn’t expecting a difficult opponent.

“From previous years and what we have heard, we knew they were going to be an easy win, and it was,” London B. (8) said.

The girls had plenty of ways to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Most of our goals came from shots in the corners of the goal or rebounds of the goalie,” Burke said. “Also we had a lot of good crosses in the box,” Kate B. (8) said.

Despite offense scoring its goals, the defensive side came out with a clean sheet.

“Our defensive line [was] changed,”  Kate said. “And [we] dropped a sweeper, so if our line of three got beat, there was the last defender still there.”
