Girls’ basketball retools with seven new members

With more than half the varsity squad being first-year players, the Lady Wildcats look to find success with an inexperienced basketball team. Senior Mary Billhartz, a four-year varsity veteran, says the team will take some getting used to because the girls haven’t all played together before.

“I feel like it may be hard since the new girls haven’t had experience in a varsity game yet, but I am hopeful,” Billhartz said. “We seem to get along, so that’s good.”

Sophomore Victoria Hahn, one of the seven new members, says the transition should not be a problem.

“I think I will do fine,” Hahn said. “I already know all my teammates. I’m going to have to fill in the shoes of some of the players that left because I play similar positions as them. Everyone is going to have to come together as a really new team to find how we work.”

The Lady Wildcats tip their season off against Masters’ Academy on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in the West Shore gym.
