The girls’ varsity basketball roster is set. Tryouts for the team occurred last Monday, and 11 girls made the team. Following a 7-16 season, the girls hope to improve.

“We have had practices every day for pretty much the whole summer,” returning varsity player Ana Gent (10) said. “I really hope all this practice pays off. We have gotten to know each other’s playing styles a lot better, and I think the team will be an improvement from last year.”

The team lost three seniors, including captain Erin O’Brien, to graduation,  but there have been several new additions to the team to replace them.

“Losing Erin will be a huge blow to the team,” Gent said. “She was not only a great player, but she helped me and all the other younger players on the team improve. However, we have a couple of new players that I think will help us have a winning season, and maybe a district title.”

Kate Rosiene (10) is one of those new additions. Last year, she played for the junior varsity team.

“I’m really proud of myself for making the team,” Rosiene said. “I set a goal and I reached it. I can’t wait to get on the court.”
