Eau Gallie Arts fest invites high-school participants

All area high-school students have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming Artworks Eau Gallie festival where participants are encouraged to actively do their art work on site or set up completed pieces for display. All different types of art are welcome, whether it’s painting or sculpting.

Patrons of the show can see students working and possibly purchase original pieces.

“The Eau Gallie Arts fest is a unique art show in that it has working artists,” art teacher Matt Henderson said. “Artists that are showing their work will also being working the entire time. So a painter will be out painting with oil paints or acrylics or water color and a sculptor will be out sculpting.”

This event is set to take place on Nov. 18-19 at Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Arts District. The show will be open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. There is no fee for entry, but artists must bring all their own materials.

“You show what you do and like how you create a piece,” junior Olivia Langford said. “So you just do art there and that’s how you get volunteer hours, and you can also sell your art.”
