Students look forward to creation of Valorant club

Valorant is a 5v5 character-based tactical FPS video game where precise gunplay meets unique agent abilities. Students such as junior Noah Techoueyres and sophomore Ethan Marana are interested in creating a club dedicated to it and are planning to start a Valorant Esports team. They are currently looking for a club sponsor and plan to have weekly meetings.

“I feel like a Valorant Esports team would add a lot to the culture here because many people play video games but have no outlet to express it in West Shore,” Marana said. “Especially since Esports is getting more popular day by day.”

Techoueyres said video games like Valorant relieve stress.

“After a long day of work, there is nothing better than going home and cracking some games of Valorant,” he said. “My favorite thing to do when playing is [getting 40 kills in a game].”

Sophomore Drew Newlin wants to take Valorant to a competitive level.

“Valorant is more than just a game to me; the feeling of the mouse in my hand is one like no other,” Newlin said. “I can’t wait to step foot on the big stages when we start dominating the scene.”
