Juniors and seniors “prompose” ahead of prom April 12

Juniors Laith Zavala and Ella Kissinger

High school students often use posters with clever phrases to ask their crush to go to prom with them, commonly known as “promposals.” With prom approaching April 12, students are taking their chances and asking their crush to attend with them. Junior Laith Zavala made his move during Power Hour, drawing a crowd.

“I was so nervous at first because she looked so shocked, but when she said yes I felt like 100 pounds lifted from my shoulders,” Zavala said. “Even though there was tons of pressure, I’m just really glad I did it.”

Senior Shupang Xu made his promposal at the end of Wildcat Challenge and was featured on the WCTZ News Instagram story.

“In my opinion, promposals are great and really bring out the West Shore spirit, especially when everyone gathers around and cheers you on,” Xu said. “I recommend others do it because I think it’s a great way to come out of your comfort zone and to try something new; life is too short to not take risks.”
