Band prepares for spring concert April 11

The band program is preparing for its spring concert, which will take place April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The beginning and advanced bands will perform eight pieces as a band or in groups.

“It’s going to be a culmination of all the stuff that they’ve learned throughout the year,” band director Justin Snively said. “I’m excited because the last time the parents heard these beginners was at the winter concert in December, so I think there’s gonna be a big difference.”

Snively said his students are almost ready to perform.

“There’s two pieces that we’ve been working on for the last semester, and then there’s one piece that they got right before spring break,” he said. “I would say the two pieces that they’ve had for the longest are sounding really, really good, and that third piece is almost there. But we got to speed it up a little bit more.”

Freshman clarinetist Samual Hayes said he is ready for the concert.

“I am excited and confident of my abilities,” he said. “I think that most of my classmates are ready, but some kids aren’t putting in enough effort and aren’t quite prepared.”
