Boys’ varsity team reflects on season

The boys’ varsity basketball season ended earlier than expected following a first-round district tournament loss to Cocoa Beach. The team finished 7-18  after seeing  players get suspended and injured.

“I kind of let myself down,” Bennett Kent (11) said. “I was 13th out of 50 players to be picked on the Cape Coast All-Conference team. They only pick 11 so I was two away. I blame it on being suspended for six games.”

Seniors Scott Maggio, Zack Shahzad, James Leonard and Daniel Shelton all in the program for at least three years, expressed disappointment with the way their final season played out.

“It was disappointing in a way, but regardless it was a lot of fun with my teammates,” Maggio said. “I just wish we would’ve pushed each other more. The potential was there. I feel like if we would’ve played for each other all the time, every game, we could’ve gone far this year.”
