Boys’ golf finishes strong, begins to look ahead

Boys’ golf finished up its season on a high note, with two golfers making it far into the district rounds and one going on to regionals.

“We improved considerably in districts with both Alex B. (7) and Vaughn [Addington] (12) going low,” Coach Dave Kendall said. “Alex birdied three of his last four holes finishing in a three-way tie for first and advancing to regions.”

Looking forward to next year’s season, Kendall  already is making improvements to the team.

“This regular season, the nine dual-hole matches prepared us for our 18-hole tournaments at the end of season,” he said. “We played very well on the front nine, but not as well on the back nine. Next year, I will be focusing on our team playing a whole game, not just half of one.”

After losing two of their key senior players, Kendall said he is turning to incoming players.

“The emphasis on our offseason will be for our younger returning players to play in 18 hole competitive tournaments,” he said.
