Beta Club hosts drive for Daily Bread

Beta Club is now collecting travel-sized toiletries from Feb. 3 to Feb. 10 for Daily Bread, a soup kitchen in Melbourne where men, women, and children in need go to shower and receive a hot meal.

“We wanted to do a fund-raiser that would benefit the community in some way,” beta club president Michelle Maldonado said.  “A lot of clubs donate to other organizations so this is one of the ones nobody has done in a while.”

Many students feel that Beta Club is doing an improved job of connecting with the community.

“Beta Club has really stepped up their game this year,” junior Chris Melchiori said. “The new fund-raisers they are doing are really good and really helpful to the community.”

Donations can be placed in the boxes that are located in homeroom. Some items requested are toiletries such as; toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and mouth wash.

“They now will not be limited to supplies that they need in order to cleanse themselves.” Maldonado states.
