Yearbook staff attends district workshop

Members of the yearbook team attended the 2022 Florida Scholastic Press Association District 3 workshop at Daytona State College on Oct. 28. The group attended three classes, these helped them design the pages and improve their coverage of the student body.

Sophomore Chandra Sree said the conference gave the group some useful ideas.

“We definitely learned how to get more content in our yearbook in a more efficient and better way,” Sree said. “I would definitely go back.”

Editor in Chief Aarushi Vyas said she thinks the staff learned a lot.

“There are a lot of elements that go into creating a yearbook and we do not cover all of them in class,” the senior said. “I especially think the staff was able to learn a lot more about the design process.”

She also said she learned how to improve her leadership.

“I think the convention definitely had new information for me as each presenter brings their own take with them and has their own way of teaching us,” Vyas said.

Though, she said some of it was repetitive.

“Although I did learn new things, some of the information was repetitive,” Vyas said. “There were some classes that covered many of the basics, so they were not as informational as I had hoped.”

Sree said she believes the experience was worth the $25 registration fee.

“It was worth it because it included lunch and a free T-shirt,” she said
