Rock the Universe draws West Shore attendees

The echo of cheering crowds mixed with the sounds of roller coasters brought thousands of music fans from across Florida to Universal Studios for Rock the Universe 2025, a celebration of faith and music. Held Jan. 25-26, the event featured a lineup of top Christian artists including Forrest Frank, Josiah Queen and Brandon Lake, as well as access to Universal roller coasters and thrill experiences.

Senior Siera Crum attended the event with her Holy Trinity youth group and said she was excited to experience the inclusive nature of Rock the Universe.

“Even if you don’t like Christian music or anything like that, you’re still going to have fun,” Crum said, “regardless of who you are or what your religion is.”

For senior Jodie Wiens, who joined her youth group from Rock Harbor Church, the event was about more than music.

“There’s something very powerful about meeting other people who have similar interests as you,” Wiens said.

Both seniors said Christian music had positively impacted their lives.

“I like rock Christian music because that’s just more my style. I’m actually in a band myself,” Crum said. “I think it’s really cool how contemporary music branches away from the traditional hymnal style. It shows that it doesn’t have to be a specific way—it can be however you want it to be.”

Wiens shared similar sentiments to Crum, and said modern Christian music was important to her.

“I really love that genre of music, so it’s so cool to be able to hear it in a godly way. I love folk music, but a lot of folk music isn’t very godly, so hearing it with that perspective makes it even more meaningful.”
