Potter Club makes faux mandrakes

With Spring Break just days away, Harry Potter Club members gathered in sponsor Maggie Molledo’s room to make faux-mandrake roots, a vital component in healing potions and undoing paralysis. Club members made the mandrakes out of felt, stuffing pipe cleaners and plastic eyes supplied by Molledo.

The club will next play host to a movie night and members will vote on which Harry Potter film they will see.

“The current sway of the vote is towards ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’  Kayla Iranda said. “I’m really excited to see what the club is going to pick.”

The club plans on having popcorn and other food available and members can still earn house points if they dress up in a Harry Potter shirt or outfit.

Molledo said there aren’t many meetings left and that movie night is a way to make up for the distraction of the recent Science Fair, which Molledo managed.
