JV cheer team prepares for pep rally

The JV cheer team will be performing at the second pep rally of the year on Jan. 27.

“JV and Varsity is making a big routine together to perform to the whole school,” eighth-grader Carina said.

The cheer team started preparing the routine at the beginning of the month. There will be two performances at the pep rally, one from JV and varsity combined and one from the competition team.

“Instead of working on our own to try to come up with a routine, we’re working on a stronger performance with varsity,” freshman Hannah Jones said.

Jones said they need to work on their routine to look their best, but they do not have a lot of practices left until the pep rally.

“I am a little stressed about the number of practices because we don’t have many,” Jones said. “The girls have to take the initiative to work on the routine on their own, and I don’t know if they will do that.”

Carina said she isn’t worried.

“JV will be prepared since the pep rally is towards the end of the month, so we’ll get enough time to practice,” she said.

Despite the number of practices before the performance, Jones said the team has improved since the last pep rally.

“We’re better performers with stronger stunts, and I think that will show during this one,” Jones said.
