Jenkins picked to coach boys’ JV soccer

The boys’ junior varsity soccer team is facing reform this new season with a new coach being introduced.

The team finished last season with a 7-3-2 record, led by Coach Austin Downie. However, this year the team will be led by Coach Derick Jenkins, who has been coaching for 25 years. Freshman forward Jack Grimison, who played JV under Downie, has great hopes for this season.

“I like this new coach a lot,” Grimison said. “He seems like he can really help us out this season by picking the right guys to elevate the team.”

Grimison isn’t the only one who has high hopes. Eighth-grader Brody S., who was also on last year’s team, said he believes the players will have a big role in the success of this season.

“We have some players to build off of,” Brody said. “The captains will really help lead the team.”
