Having worst fantasy record can be painful

With the last week in the regular season of NFL fantasy football approaching, many leagues have begun to wind things up. Most of the time, fantasy leagues have a postseason and play a small playoff bracket. But for many, the fun way to settle results is the overall record rather than the postseason. This keeps players more engaged and keeps the leagues intense. And in some leagues, there’s punishment involved for the loser.

Punishments can vary, some of the classics are dares and deeds such as the well-known “24-Hour Meal in Waffle House” and the “Milk Gallon Mile.”

Junior Dawson Jenkins plays in a league where the punishment gets spicy. Jenkins has placed high in his league and knows he is safe due to his previous victories, but he knows that it will not be fun for the loser.

“We have a punishment where the loser has to do the Blazin Wings challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings,” he said. “I’m not scared because I have no chance of losing, but this punishment should be scary because the wings are insanely spicy and eating those wings will not be fun.”

The Blazin Wings measure at 350,000 Scoville units, which is 60 times spicier than a jalapeno pepper.

Another punishment is the “Milk Gallon Mile,” where the runner must drink a gallon of milk while running a mile. This punishment is  popular and many leagues do it because of its comedic effect.

Sophomore Ethan Brown-Bergtold said the punishment is no joke and he would not take his chances to do that punishment.

“The ‘Milk Gallon’ Mile is a scary punishment,” Brown-Bergtold said. “Drinking milk when running a mile is something no one would ever hope to do.”
