Girls’ basketball falls to Edgewood 42-35

The girls’ varsity basketball team lost to Edgewood 42-35 Friday.  After the game, junior Jaylynn Jeter said the team has some mistakes to fix.

“The team needed to improve on having better energy and not rushing because it affected how we played in regards to our passing and our overall performance,” Jeter said. “Although in the beginning we lacked energy, it soon got better and we started to work better as a team and execute our plays.”

The team emphasized the importance of defense and communication during the game, and how it can affect the outcome.

“One thing we still need to work on is communicating on and off the court,” Jeter said.

However, there were still positives to take away from the game.

“The team played well on defense and tiring out the other team,” Jeter said.

The girls’ varsity basketball team still retains a winning record of 10-9 following the loss. The team (10-9) is anticipating playing at Calvary Chapel on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and looking to advance into tournament games starting on Jan. 31.
