Girls’ basketball falls to Satellite in OT

Eighth-Grader Erynn M. scored 23 points, added 15 rebounds and had six steals in a losing effort as the varsity girls’ basketball team lost at Satellite 48-46 in overtime Wednesday, Senior Abby Hedrick said the team did all it could to win.

“We all played really hard,” said Hedrick, who had two points and six rebounds. “Everyone left everything on the court.”

Freshman Emily Marshall said she agreed with Hedrick.

“We left it all out on the court and never really lost energy,” said Marshall, who scored one point and had five rebounds, said.

The Lady Wildcats made 10 of 31 free-throw attempts, making them 32 percent from the line.

“We did not capitalize on those opportunities,” Hedrick said. “We definitely need to make more free throws.

Hedrick spoke of what measures the team would take to win against MCC at home today.

“We are going to continue to play aggressively and work on turning the ball over less,” Hedrick said.

Marshall said that the team needs to have a “winning mindset.”

“We need to want the win more than them,” Marshall said. “As long as we continue the high energy and come out competitive we can beat any team.”

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
