Boy’s Soccer onto the second round of districts
The boy’s soccer team shut out Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School Wednesday night in the first round of the District playoffs. The final score was 4-0 in a strong defensive performance.
Sophomore midfielder Sam Leighton scored the first goal of the game mid way through the first half.
“The ball came swinging in from the left but there were a bunch of people in the way,” Leighton said. “But lucky for me the ball still got through and it was just a tap in from there.”
To add some excitement to the game fellow Sophomore Nick Burgess committed a hard foul.
“I basically tackled the kid across from me and the ref gave me a yellow card,” Burgess said. “Which I took objection to so he gave me another one which should have meant I got a red card but he took it easy on me because it was a high school game.”
Boy’s soccer next opponent Edgewood. The game will be on Friday at Astronaut High School at 6 p.m.
