Seniors Sebastian Rivera and Avery East join as a team in the Smash Brothers tournament.

Sophomores Emmanuel Paterakis and Duncan Schwarze took the victory and received the $100 grand prize in the annual Super Smash Bros Tournament fund-raiser Wednesday. Students were able to sign up as singles or teams during lunch, or purchase tickets to watch.

Organizing the tournament took a lot of preparation and the profits will benefit the Senior Class later in the year.

“We have 20 teams entered [so far],” said tournament coordinator and commentator Phi Duong.

Duong said although he didn’t play in the tournament, he was happy to see competitiveness and enthusiasm in the players.

The success of the Super Smash Bros Tournament will help determine how much money the Senior Class has for events such as Project Graduation and Senior Breakfast.

“We are obviously trying to raise money,” Senior Class sponsor Matt Henderson said. “There are several bills we have to pay.”
