Senior Lydia Kline led the team with 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals Thursday, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Wildcats varsity basketball team fell to Cocoa 42-36 in the District 8-4A tournament which was held at Holy Trinity.

Sophomore Mary Billhartz said her played well against one of the more athletic teams in the district.

“The game was pretty close the whole time, and we were winning the majority of the time,” Billhartz said. “We just couldn’t keep our lead long enough to win, but overall we played strong against a team as athletic and talented as Cocoa.”

Senior Kaitlin Inganna put up 5 points and eight rebounds.

“Honestly it was truly a bittersweet moment,” Inganna said. “We played really hard and the game turned out to be close and exciting to play. I couldn’t have asked for a better game to end the season other than the one we had won.”

The team finished the season with a 15-6 record.
