Girls’ tennis team gears up end-of-season push

The girls’ tennis team has been preparing for these next two weeks all season. Today, the Wildcats will be playing Holy Trinity in their last match and final district match of the regular season. In recent years, the Wildcats and the Tigers have been going back and forth. Last season, West Shore could not pull off a win in the regular-season matches, but when districts rolled around, they beat Holy Trinity for the championship.

“They are a pretty good team and have been hard to beat in the past,” freshman Sarah Bahsoun said. “It is going to be a very tough match, but I think we definitely have a chance of winning.”

Next week, the Wildcats will be competing in districts on April 3 and 4 at Fee Avenue Park. So far this season, the girls have won all of their district matches so they are looking forward to competing in the district tournament.

“I am feeling pretty confident in our team. We have only lost two matches all year and both were not district teams so we will not be playing either of them.” freshman Maci Pekmezian said. “The only disadvantage I may have at districts is that I am not playing tennis year round unlike many of my opponents.”

The Lady Wildcats’ next match is today at 4 p.m. at their home courts at Hoover Middle School in Indialantic.
