Students play Gaga ball, where players try to eliminate opponents by hitting them with a ball below the knees. “I’ve been playing Gaga ball for years now, as a boy scout,” junior Parker Wales said. “Although I think my lack of skill seen today comes from the mass amount of people in the pit. I’m typically used to bouncing the balls off the walls and on to people to get them out. The school should invest in an in-ground wooden gaga pit, then I’ll play better.”

On Oct. 29, first grade students at Endeavour Elementary display their new shoes during the Samaritan's Feet shoe giveaway. The organization partnered with Truist Financial to provide every student on campus with new shoes, socks and a tote bag. "They are so excited," Christina McPherson said. "Several had holes in their shoes and hardly any had socks on."

On Dec. 13, AP Government students look at Holocaust artifacts provided by ShadowLight, which is on its "The Hate Ends Now" tour. Students got to sit in a replica of a train car used to transport Jewish people during World War II. The "cattle car" had a 3D projector system and voiceovers by two survivors that narrated what the experience had been like. "Just being in an enclosed space that thousands of people were carried to their death in is a terrible feeling," junior Ava French said. "I was imagining myself in the shoes of Hedy and Nate while the movie was playing and I couldn’t help but cry thinking of the terrifying things they went through."

Dressed as the bride from the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," Rula Rukab celebrates the success of the annual fundraiser with her friends. "Blingo isn't just West Shore – it's a community," Rukab said. "Every year we got bigger and bigger. It's a fun night. It's a crazy night. Just ask your mom."

"In 7th grade I had signed up for a [field trip to] Canada but it was canceled because COVID pushed it off so much, so when Mrs. Pietrzak brought up that they were doing a D-Day field trip to Europe, I thought that was really cool and I knew that I definitely wanted to do a trip while I was at West Shore so I took the opportunity," senior Amelia Bailly said.
