Wildcats clip Eagles 61-49

The boys’ varsity basketball team officially started its season with a 61-49 victory over the Brevard Christian Eagles on Monday. The Wildcats set the tone early with full court ball pressure which led to more scoring opportunities. Center John Bond led the way with a strong double-double, tallying 21 points and 12 rebounds. He said he believes this victory will help the team prepare for its first home game against the Satellite Scorpions.

“It helped us work together as a team which is important for our success,” he said.

Senior Scott Adams is also hopeful for Tuesday’s game versus the Scorpions.

“I’m getting use to the pain and hopefully the injury will not affect my play significantly, so I plan on playing… as long as coach lets me,” Adams joked.

Said Bond: “The key [to victory] was running in transition and being patient in the half-court and causing turnovers.”

The Wildcats plan to achieve the same offensive success and to apply the same defensive pressure against the Scorpions. Tip-off is at 5:30 for the junior varsity squad and varsity follows at 7 p.m.
