Volleyball team falls to Scorpions

Senior Kaitlyn Forry and junior Diana Sheedy combined for 24 digs to lead the team defensively but the Lady Wildcats were defeated by Satellite High School 20-25, 19-25, 16-25 in the West Shore gym Tuesday nigh.

“The Wildcats were not successful against Satellite tonight because we did not provide an equal and balanced offense against a powerhouse Satellite team,” Coach Bonnie Priester said.

The Lady Wildcats put up a strong defensive front,  but failed to execute their offensive attacks. The team’s many unforced errors contributed several points to the opponents’ side of the scoreboard. The Scorpions then seized on those opportunities to score more kills.

“We need to regroup, refocus and get prepared for Thursday’s district competition against Cocoa Beach, the only other team that has given West Shore a loss,” Priester said.

That match at Cocoa Beach High School will be followed by one at Melbourne High School on Friday.

‘What separates the good from the great is the ability to pick yourself up after a loss and go back out and play hard,” said Dan Wenger, parent of libero Kylie Wenger. “Put this in the books; its done, so let’s move on.”
