The Varsity Golf Team held their tryouts on August 10th, 2015.  The golf team plays at Duran Country Club in Viera.  Two returning players, Greg Darnell and Nic Saladino, told me their expectations and goals for the upcoming season.

Greg Darnell, a team captain and senior, has high expectations for the upcoming season.  Greg started playing golf when he was six years old, and started playing competitvly golf when he was ten years old.  Greg now plays in tournaments across the state of Florida.

“I expect to win states individually,” Greg Darnell, team captain and senior said.

When asked about how the team will do overall, Greg said ” I hope we can win a few matches this year.”

Another member of the golf team, Nic Saladino, weighed in on the upcoming golf season.  Nic has been playing golf for the last four years.  He has played golf on the varsity team in all of his high school years.  Nic hopes to be a leader for the younger players on the team this year.

“I expect this year to be a developmental year.  We have a lot of young players this year.”  said senior Nic Saladino.  ” I want us to win as much as we can.”

Both Nic Saladino and Greg Darnell have high expectations for the golf team after tryouts.  They are starting to have practices after school at Duran and will start to have matches next month.
