Scoring a hat-trick, junior Jenna Forry lead the Wildcats to a 16-0 victory over Atlantic High School in the district opener Monday night in a game that ended at halftime under the slaughter rule.
The game proved to be interesting in that West Shore players were able to switch from their usual positions as the score grew lopsided.
“Haley Keener and I usually play goalie, and we were put in as forwards,” junior Desiree Shields said. “Haley scored one goal, and I scored two.”
Shields said she was pleased because she normally does not get the opportunity to score.
“Briana Basta was put in goal while the two of us played forward,” Shields said. “She didn’t know what she was doing, but it didn’t matter because there wasn’t that much action on our goal.”
