Lady Wildcats dominate Atlantic 12-0

Led by senior Lauren Dietl’s hat trick, the girls’ soccer team defeated Atlantic High School 12-0 Tuesday.

“I wasn’t really expecting it,” Dietl said. “But I positioned myself in the right spot at the right time to get three goals in, two of which were with my left foot.”

Each with two goals, senior Amanda Farthing, junior Jenna Forry, and sophomore Kaitlin Inganna assisted to the Wildcat domination over the Sharks. Also contributing to the win, senior Erin Berube, junior Brianna Basta, and freshman Erika Lobemeyer all had one goal.

“Although the other team were good sports, Atlantic wasn’t very good,” Farthing said. “We were able to use this game to get back into the season after Thanksgiving break and practice the playing style that we want to have.”

The girls’  next game is home against Titusville at 7 p.m. The Wildcats expect a tough challenge as they will be missing several starters for a club showcase in North Carolina. These six girls play on travel teams and will be playing in a tournament where college coaches are scouting potential recruitments.

“We know that Titusville is a good team and we’re going to be missing six starters, so we’re going to have to work six times harder than usual,” Farthing said.
