JV boys open with 54-18 loss to Heritage
November 29, 2017
The junior-varsity boys’ basketball opened its season with a 54-18 loss to Heritage on Tuesday.
“I feel we didn’t play how we practiced at all. We worked on our offensive plays in practice and we didn’t run a single play the entire game,” freshman Chase Burton said. “I’m glad that we lost as bad as we did though because now we know what we are up against. I feel that we will grow as a team throughout the season and I think we will get back on track and move on.”
Sophomore Robert Benezra knows the game is a team effort. Not one player can win or lose the game, and they are trying to instill this idea throughout their practices this season.
“I don’t think we played very well,” he said. “As an individual, I will try my best to do everything I can to encourage my teammates on and off the court. I think the team will get much better.”
Freshman Laith Rukab focused on the room for improvement.
“I thought it was an experience for the team since we have a lot of new guys on the team. The new guys got a taste of high school basketball for the first time,” Rukab said. “I feel we could have played better as a team.”
