Hayes, Camps pace cross-country meet
Freshmen Christian Hayes and Austin Camps placed in the top 15 out of 243 competitors while placing in the all-time top 10 times in school history at he boys’ cross-country team in Rockledge on Saturday.
Overall however, the boys placed fourth out of 18 teams and the junior-varsity squad placed sixth out of 12 teams.
“All I can say is wow,” Coach Greg Hayes said.
On the day before the race Hayes set an objective for the team to have an overall better team score than the district competitors who beat West Shore in the last two races. His goal was met when both varsity and JV outscoring them 120-162 and 209-292 respectively.
