Lacrosse to stage battle of sexes

Kelly Hambel is hosting a girls against boys lacrosse game on Friday at 4 p.m. for her Senior Project. The goal is to raise money to help support lacrosse and the SADD club.

Hambel says the game will include a competitive halftime show as well.

“I want to have a half time like battle of the sexes’ game,” she said. “The outcome hopefully will be to just have fun and raise money for the two things that I am involved in.”

To prepare for the game, Kelly has held short practices after school to explain the rules — especially for the boys since the game will be played under girls’ rules.

“The girls’ rules are difficult to play by since they’re used to the less strict rules [than the boys do], but I’m looking forward to the game and the guys are going to dominate,” sophomore Ryan Bellone said.

Sophomore Christine Sherry says the rules give the girls an advantage.

“The girls are going to kill the guys since we are so used to are rules, but it’s still going to be fun,” she said. “It will be a nice start to the season and a great bonding session for both teams.”
