Placing fifth in Cape Coast at Cocoa Beach Country Club on Friday, the girls’ swim and dive team edged out 11 other schools.

“I think we did well,” freshman Nicole Riopelle said. “I placed second overall in my 100 fly, and my time was a big improvement for me.”

Many swimmers had personal best times too.

“I know a lot of swimmers improved their times,” Nicole said. “One of them was [sophomore] Taylor Reid who dropped 16 seconds in her 500 free, which was awesome.”

The team has also had to face many changes this season, like getting a new coach.

“Coach [Jamie] Wyatt is an extremely positive person and she cares about the program,” Athletic Director Tony Riopelle said. “She helps the team by working hard and doing the best to her ability to get everyone where they need to be.”

The swimmers got to participate in team bonding during the meet.

“We got to play a lot of music and have fun which helped all of us feel like a team,” said Nicole.

The team will be competing at the District Competition on Oct. 20.
