The girls’ varsity soccer team mercy ruled Cocoa Beach on the road 8-0 shortly into the second half on Monday. Senior varsity striker Madison Ainbinder said she thinks it was there best game yet.

“The game Monday went really well,” Ainbinder said. “Our previous game was rough, so it was good to have a great performance.”

She also said scoring on their opportunities was the key to success.

“We were really able to focus on attacking, which is where we struggled previously,” Ainbinder said. “Scoring a lot of goals let more players get involved and it really got us excited and brought us together.”

Sophomore defender Abigail Watson agreed.

“In our game against Cocoa Beach, we finished our chances better than previous games,” Watson said. “For good results, capitalizing on our chances is huge.”

Freshman Kate Burgess said recent practice drills paid off.

“We practiced switching and shooting during the week and we portrayed what we practiced into the game, which was very successful,” Burgess said.

Burgess also thinks an 8-0 victory will be a confidence-booster for the team and help them going forward.

“This game is good for future games because we know what we are capable of,” she said.
