Girls end swim season undefeated

After winning their last meet Thursday, the girls’ swim team proved to be undefeatable, bringing pride not only to themselves, but to their school.
“People think of West Shore and think ‘hey, that’s the nerd school,’”sophomore Sierra Condo said. “Now they can’t really say much because we beat them.”
During the course of the regular season, they conquered seven schools, including Merritt Island, Cocoa, Heritage, Rockledge, Viera, Edgewood and Satellite.
“It’s fulfilling,” team captain Kelly Stokes said. “And of course it’s 100 times better than winning your own event because it shows that everyone on the team has been working really hard and our practicing paid off.”
In addition to being undefeated, the team also broke all of the school’s girls’ swim records during the season.
“It’s one of the greatest feelings ever,” Stokes said. “It’s kind of like when you work really hard to make a cake and then everyone loves it and wants the recipe.”
