Five named to all-county soccer team

West Shore kicked through the barriers, once again proving that the Wildcat Nation not only is academically advanced but also is athletically formidable. Florida Today newspaper recently named five boys’ soccer players to its All-Space Coast team.

“I’m honored to be selected to the first team and I couldn’t have gotten here without my teammates. Being selected shows how far we have come and its great to be a part of a growing soccer tradition,” said senior defender and first-team selection Tyler Moscrip.

Sophomore Aidan Wixted, another first-team selection, appeared surprised by the honor.

“I didn’t really expect it,” he said. “I didn’t even know until my coach messaged me telling me I had been selected and it was just an unexpected surprise.”

Head coach John Krehbiel said he was pleased with his team’s showing.

“I was very happy to see that Aidan and Tyler were recognized, but even happier that Jimmy Madden, Liam Wixted and Ryan Robidoux made the second team All-County, giving our West Shore team more first- and second-team players than any other school,” he said. “Although we didn’t achieve the state championship success we had last year, we are still recognized as one of the top teams in Brevard County, which is known for good soccer.”

Krehbiel said he wasn’t surprised by West Shore’s first-team showing.

“Aidan and Tyler are both excellent soccer players, both of whom can play at the college level,” he said. “Tyler is both a defensive power and great as an offensive threat, primarily on headers. Aidan’s standout skill is his ability to make precision passes with just the right speed, which is why he was one of the team’s leaders in assists on goals.”
