Depleted boys’ soccer team wins 8-0

The varsity boys’ soccer team defeated Atlantic High School 8-0 Friday despite missing multiple players from the starting lineup.

“The team is working more as a unit and keeping more possession of the ball,” manager Gage Guinta, a sophomore, said. “They scored eight goals on Atlantic even without some of their top players.”

Some players missed the game due to the Capital Area Soccer League tournament in North Carolina.

“We have a lot of high-quality players this year,” sophomore Jimmy Murren said. “Our coaches are pushing us to a state championship.”

Coach “Scotti” Armstrong is new to the team the year.

“Coach Scotti pushes them really hard,” Guinta said. “All the hard work is paying off, though. They are the top team in the county.”
