After two preseason games last weekend, the boys’ soccer team emerged with an optimistic attitude for the season ahead.
The team defeated the Palm Bay Pirates in Friday night’s game, 4-3, led by senior Liam Wixted with two goals and juniors Ryan Robidoux and Jimmy Murren, each with one goal.
“Preseason games are really helpful because it gives us a chance to play with our new members and help them find their rhythms,” Robidoux said. “I am confident in our team this year and hope we can live up to the bar we set last year.”
Led by sophomore Brad Mooney with two goals, the team then triumphed over the Rockledge Raiders, 6-0. Each with one goal, senior James Bocisnky, junior Jimmy Murren, sophomore Aidan Wixted and freshman Noah Quinones carried the team to victory.
“Our game against the Pirates was a little rough, we weren’t very fluid, didn’t have our rhythm,” Murren said. “ But in Saturday’s game, we were very gelled and fluid as a team.”
The team captains were announced Friday night after a vote taken on Thursday. Seniors Tyler Moscrip and Jimmy Madden will fill the shoes that were left by graduates John Bocisnky and Kevin Kurtz.
“I feel very honored to be selected to lead a team that has high expectations and a lot of talent,” Madden said. “The most important role Tyler and I have will be to foster the younger players’ talent so that they can contribute to our success.”
