Cheerleaders get into the Christmas spirit

Members of the cheer team will attend the upcoming Gemini Parade in Melbourne Beach, where they will be performing their former tryout dance with Gemini Elementary School cheerleaders. The cheerleaders are going walk in the Christmas-themed parade. The Gemini cheerleaders will be competing against other people who will be performing their talents in the parade.

Junior Alexia Potter has participated in the parade previously.

“Usually we win first place every other year,” Potter said. “But it is also just a fun experience performing with the younger girls and watching them have so much fun. I also like walking in the parade because we can stunt and the little cheerleaders like to watch us stunt.”

Sophomore Katelyn Curtis said she’s looking forward to the event.

“I can’t wait to do the parade because I love to see all the young cheerleaders have fun,” Curtis said. “The older girls mostly just do the parade for fun and to help with the younger girls. I am also excited to celebrate Christmas with all my cheer friends and to be able to dress up in Christmas colors”

The parade will be held on Dec. 16 at Rickman Park.
