‘Cheer for Charity’ camp set for Saturday

The cheerleaders will host the fifth annual “Cheer For Charity”event  Saturday in the gym from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The donations and sales from the event are given directly to the Brevard Cancer Care Foundation.

“I am excited about our fifth year doing it,” Coach Carrie Wadzinski said. “With a little help from everyone it makes it easy.”

The event is aimed to allow elementary-school aged children to learn and practice cheerleading routines from the Wildcat cheerleaders and to showcase them to their parents.

“We have raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000 for the Brevard Cancer Care Foundation,” Wadzinski said. “I’m amazed that it has been this successful.”

Registration — which opens at 8:30 a.m.— costs $35, and should be paid at the door. A along registration form also must be completed. Parents are invited to watch their children perform what they learned at 3:15 p.m. The campers are scheduled to learn stunts, dances, cheers and sidelines. In addition, they will also have an opportunity to be photographed with the school mascot, Wesley the Wildcat.

“It’s a fun way to help those and need,” Wadzinski said. “And it’s nice to see how excited the campers get to be able to work on their skills.”

The campers will also have a group picture with the cheerleaders and will be served a lunch and a snack.
