Freshman Austin Camps led the varsity cross-country team with a time of 17:50.50, placing 11th out of 188 competitors in the boys’ unseeded division at the 14th annual flrunners.com Invitational on Saturday at Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville.  In the unseeded division, the boys’ placed eighth overall out of 22 schools.

Senior Ian Chan held West Shore’s second best-time coming in at 19:07.20 and placing 46th out of the 188.

“It was pouring and some parts of the course got super muddy,” he said.

Despite the soggy run, Chan finished the race with a personal best time for this season.

The boys’ varsity team heads to Fort Lauderdale on Friday and the JV team will compete in St. Cloud on Saturday.
