Boys’ varsity soccer defeated St. Lucie Centennial with a score of 3-1 on Nov. 19.
“We’ve been working very hard and that night was the night we got a result,” freshman Preston Kennedy said.
The game was the team’s first win of the season after losing 3-0 against Belen Jesuit High School in Miami on Nov. 15.
Head Coach Austin Downie said he took the loss against Belen Jesuit as a way to build the team up.
“We can’t change the past, but we can prepare for the future,” Downie said.
He said he uses every moment as a way to teach the team that it is important to learn from the mistakes made and grow together in the future.
Senior Adrian Mahindra agreed with Downie on the importance of a team bond.
“We definitely have a lot of good connections as a team,” Mahindra said. “I think it is very important when building our success.”
The boys’ soccer team will take on Space Coast High School at home on Thursday, Nov. 21.
