Boys’ soccer thumps East Lake, prepares for Friday showdown

Leading the way with two goals, junior Jimmy Murren carried the Wildcat boys’ soccer team to a victory over East River on Wednesday. The team defeated the Falcons 4-0. “The team did well and we moved the ball well,” Murren said. “We worked on new formation and plays, and it proved to be beneficial. Just by the way they played, you could tell they were rusty.” Seniors James Bocinsky and Tyler Moscrip, each with one goal, assisted the team to their victory.

“I feel the game went really well,” Bocinsky said. “The other team was not very experienced and it was really easy to manipulate their spacing. I just dribbled the ball inside and outside and then shot it to the upper left.”

The team has their most challenging game on Friday against Montverde Academy at 6 p.m. according to captain Tyler Moscrip. Last year, the Eagles were ranked fourth nationally by ESPN and number one in the state for their division last year and despite losing several seniors, the team figures to be a tough opponent for the Wildcats.

“We definitely have a chance and even if we don’t win it’s an opportunity to be better,” Moscrip said. “It should be a really good game because of the amount of seniors they lost. The ultimate goal is to win another state championship.”
