Boys’ soccer comes back to sting Scorps, 5-2

With a goal and an assist, senior Liam Wixted led the boys’ soccer team to a victory over Satellite after being down by one goal in the first half. The team defeated the Scorpions Wednesday night by a score of 5-2.

“The game really came down to who was mentally tougher,” Wixted said. “We won because we played the full eighty minutes thinking we were going to win. We were doing everything we can to make sure we had the first seat in districts.”

With one goal each junior Jimmy Murren, sophomores Aidan Wixted and Brad Mooney, and freshman Brandon Sepulveda also contributed to the comeback.

“It felt good coming off of the bench and scoring,” Sepulveda said. “I feel like I was finally able to prove myself to my teammates and the opposing team.”

Sepulveda also commented on the team’s fast-approaching playoff run.

“In second half last night, we really proved that our team had a lot of heart,” Sepulveda said. “That kind of stuff will be important on our road to districts.”

The team plays at area rival Melbourne High on Friday with J.V. play starting at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
