With one goal each, junior Jimmy Murren and sophomore Aidan Wixted led the team to a close victory over Gateway High School. The team defeated the Panthers 2-1.
“They were great athletes in general,” Murren said. “They definitely showed us where our weaknesses were and showed us what we need to work on with districts coming up.”
Districts start up next week with the first game at home against Atlantic next Tuesday.
“You can’t really plan ahead for districts,” Murren said. “You have to take it one game at a time, because if you don’t get that far it just becomes wasted energy.”
The team’s last regular season game is Thursday night against MCC with J.V. at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. This game will mark the final home game for the team’s four seniors, James Bocinsky, Jimmy Madden, Tyler Moscrip, and Liam Wixted.
“I’ll miss being a part of a team and having people to put in a joint effort to achieve a similar goal,” Wixted said. “I’ll miss coming and playing home games under the lights and hearing the exciting cheers from the fans.”
